Maikol Gonzalez is back for his third season as a Diablo. Gonzalez is a 5-10, 175 lbs. infielder from Naples, Florida who attended Louisburg College in Louisburg, North Carolina, and Tusculum College in Greenville, Tennessee. In 2005, Gonzalez was drafted in the 42nd round by the Colorado Rockies in the 2005 MLB Draft. At Tusculum College Gonzalez was named a two time Division II All-American in 2007 and 2008 by the American Baseball College Association (ABCA). In 2008, Gonzalez was drafted in the 35th round by the Colorado Rockies in the 2008 MLB Draft. In 2008, Gonzalez started his professional career with the Dominican Summer League (DSL) Rockies of Boca Chica, Dominican Republic, and the Casper Ghosts of Casper, Wyoming in which he posted a combined Batting Average of .378 with 13 runs batted in, in 26 games as an infielder. In 2009, Gonzalez played for two teams, the Asheville Tourists of Asheville, North Carolina, and the Modesto Nuts of Modesto, California in which he posted a combined Batting Average of .280 with two home runs and 43 runs batted in, in 114 games as a second and third baseman. In 2010, Gonzalez played for the Modesto Nuts, in which he posted a .268 Batting Average with 11 runs batted in, in 50 games as an infielder. In 2011, Gonzalez started the year with the Modesto Nuts before moving to the El Paso Diablos in which he posted a combined Batting Average of .332 with 5 home runs and 78 runs batted in, in 162 as a shortstop from 2011 to 2012.
